Mahad Awaz Yojana

Mahad Awaz Yojana explores temporary housing for migratory communities in Maharashtra, India. Developed in collaboration with Asia Initiatives, the proposal investigates adaptable shelter solutions that respond to seasonal movement, environmental conditions, and communal ways of living.

Scope

Adaptive Housing

Approach

The project examines how lightweight construction, locally appropriate materials, and modular systems could support housing that is affordable, adaptable, and easier to assemble. Particular attention is given to climate responsiveness, resource efficiency, and shared spaces.

Intervention

A modular shelter system combines raised platforms, lightweight roofs, adaptable enclosures, and shared gathering areas. Rainwater collection and solar energy are incorporated into the proposed infrastructure, creating a housing model intended to accommodate changing needs and patterns of occupation.
